1. How often do you hear live music?
Does it count that I have musician friends who occasionally air their live concerts, or play live online for friends? If live online counts, usually every couple of weeks or so. If you mean leave my house to see live musicians, usually once a year I go to a festival where there is plenty of live music to be enjoyed over three days.

2. What was your favorite live musical performance ever?
The Paul McCartney Tour, I think it was 9 October 2002. Which was special for many reasons, including, that's John Lennon's birthday. But also, a friend had told me about a scavenger hunt for Beatles items to win concert tickets. I got ripped off, but it worked out. How? It was for 20 items. I had 20 items, but one of mine was a replica. Two other people said they had 19, so that should have been a 3-way tie for first. I was putting my stuff away when they were checking the other guy's stuff, so no clue if he actually had it all or not, but again, even if he had everything legit, there should have been a 3-way tie. But the guy used to work at the radio station running the thing, so they gave him the first prize of two floor seats. The next top 9 people got 2 tickets that were straight back from the stage, but not on the floor. Still good seats. I took those two seats, and sold them to a guitarist I knew, took that money, and I bought a parquet seat closer to the stage. I was at the end of the front row of my section which was raised up above the floor, so I could see over the floor mob perfectly even when I was sitting down. Since I was at the end, I didn't feel crowded. Since I was in the front row, I had no one in front of me to block my view. The friend who told me about the scavenger hunt went to the concert with me, but paid for her own ticket. I sold the pair of tickets I won for about $200, and paid about $250 for the seat I used. It wasn't the section next to the stage, but the next one over. When Paul was at my end of the stage, he was only about 30 feet away from me, and I could see him so clearly. Plus, he'd done a spring tour, then took the summer off, which rested his voice, so when we heard him, he sounded amazing! I will never get another seat that good to a large concert. I mean, I've gotten front row seats at my friends' concerts, but they're still not Paul McCartney!

3. Do you play an instrument, or sing?
I haven't played on a regular basis for a while, but did play the recorder in first grade, also took piano lessons, played trumpet for 3 years, then switched to the French horn for another 3 years. I played a little acoustic guitar as a teen, then took bass guitar lessons later in life, maybe when I was around 40-ish. I still have an acoustic, several bass guitars, and an electronic keyboard. I have plunked around here and there. Once I get moved, hopefully, I can have a room where I can set all that stuff up again.

I do sing for my cats, but I'm a horrible singer. They seem to like it, though.

4. Have you ever performed music onstage?
Not professionally. I was in band from grade school to high school, and played in marching band. I've plunked around with friends' stuff at their sound checks (while they're waiting for that last guy to show up).

5. Who is your favorite musician?
As a group, The Beatles have always been my favorite, and always will be. If I have to choose just one guy, I normally say Paul McCartney. But yeah, love all the Beatles, love Dennis DeYoung, and of course, love a couple of my musician friends, even if I don't get to see them much anymore.

comments

Just for fun, I've been watching this old series from the late 60s featuring Bobby Sherman and David Soul, plus a ton of cameos from people starting out. I even recognized a very young Barry Williams in one episode!

Anyway, I've complained recently about TV shows seasons being treated like mini-series, where the whole season pretty much follows one story that is told over around 10 episodes (more or less).

In comparison, this show from the late 60s, which only aired for TWO SEASONS, has 52 episodes! Yes, 52 one-hour (probably 40-45 actual minutes) episodes in two years. That's 26 full episodes per season. That's like getting 5 seasons of some shows these days!

And this is my grumble. A season should be at least 24 episodes. Not 10. AT LEAST 24. I've thought about it, and even if they scrapped the worst 12+ episodes per season of NCIS, I'd rather have the full seasons, than only the 10 best episodes airing. MORE IS BETTER! At least, if I like the show.

This is my grumble. I saw an article that said NOW, instead of running these short 18-20 episode seasons, some renewed shows will only have 10 episodes, and will SHARE their time slot with another show with 10 episodes.

As an example, I heard that both NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney were renewed. However, each show will only have 10 episodes next season. NCIS: Origins will air in the fall of 2026, and NCIS: Sydney will start airing in the same time slot sometime in January. I am so NOT HAPPY with this. I mean, yes, 10 episodes beats having the show canceled, but 20+ episodes per season beats 10 episodes per season.

This is also horrible for the actors, writers, production teams, etc., because 10 episodes does not cover a full year's worth of expenses. Now, these people have to find TWO shows, maybe even THREE to be able to pay their bills!

NCIS: Origins has had 18 episodes in each of the first two seasons. It seems to be confirmed that the series will be reduced to only 10 episodes for season 3.

I've also heard that Ghosts will have fewer episodes next year, and another show will take its slot for the fall, and Ghosts will return sometime in early 2027. I've seen where articles that say CBS still claims there will be 22 episodes for season 6, but confirmed it will not air until 2027. Another article said there will only be 10 episodes, and another said the cast has "confirmed" there will be 13 episodes. So, who knows?

Let's see Ghosts (US):
Season 1: 18 episodes
Season 2: 22 episodes
Season 3: 10 episodes (due to writers' and actors' strike)
Season 4: 22 episodes
Season 5: 22 episodes
Season 6: ??? (Maybe 10, maybe 13?)

It's so annoying that some shows aren't even given a chance. I enjoyed the Frasier reboot, canceled after 2 seasons, 20 episodes. I was enjoying Starfleet Academy, which was very strangely canceled after S1 (10 episodes) aired, but S2 has been filmed, and so far, apparently, will be aired at some point. Just saying, back in the 70s, 20 episodes wasn't even a single full season!

And poor NCIS: Tony and Ziva, canceled after just 10 episodes! Well, it really felt like a little mini-series anyway.

I was talking to my brother the other day, and he brought up not only the shorter seasons, but that many shows seem to focus on alternating flashbacks with current time. T&Z definitely did that more than I liked!

comments

I've recently been watching the cat vids with Doug, Toad, Newt, and Frog. They all seem to go nuts for loose catnip. I stopped by the store yesterday, and was in the cat aisle, so I picked up some catnip for my kitties.

When presented with the loose-leaf catnip, two of my cats were basically like, "Whatever," and walked off. One cat gave the catnip jar so many loving headbutts!

Can you guess which of my cats headbutted the catnip jar dozens of times?

Was it 15-year-old Chaser?

Was it 5-year-old Ozzie?

Was it 2-year-old Pippin?

Bonus question: Can you guess which cat may have had a delayed reaction and had the zoomies about 30 minutes after being introduced to the catnip jar?

comments

1. What do you consider your current main fandom? (This can include hobbies and collecting. Anything you feel fannish about!)

Some of you may have noticed that I differentiate between fandom and Fandom. IMHO, loving something as a fan and creating stories and artwork around something are two different things. I LOVE The Beatles, but have no interest in reading or writing fanfic about them. I love a lot of TV shows and movies that I enjoy, but have no interest in reading or writing fanfic about them. So yeah, it's a very different thing to me.

So, my main Fandom is NCIS. It's been my main Fandom since 2010. I still actively write and create Fandom banners for NCIS.

I suppose my main fandom would be The Beatles. *G*

2. What was your first fandom?

My first Fandom was *NSync (which I sometimes refer to as PopSlash, which includes BSB and others, but I always wrote *NSync).

My first fandom, hmmm, probably The Beatles. I remember hearing Beatles songs on AM stations as a kid. I've always loved The Beatles. And cats and horses. *G*

3. Do you have any favorite headcanons or fan theories?

I mean, just saying Gibbs and Tony are together as a couple probably qualifies. I like to play around with things now and then. I've written a couple of stories where Gibbs' daughter Kelly survived. But it's not something I continue to write over and over. When I write, I prefer to find different angles and stories to write about, rather than rehashing the same thing over and over.

I guess my big headcanon thing is that TIVA and Tali never happened. When Tony left the MCRT, he either became a team leader outside the DC area or left NCIS altogether and started working for the FBI, usually in California. He never slept with Ziva, and if Tali exists, her father is truly Adam Eshel. That's my (headcanon) story, and I'm sticking to it!

4. Have you ever created fanworks?

Ummm, yeah! Lots.

For *NSync/PopSlash, I wrote about 120 stories and created a handful of banners in about 6 or 7 years.

For NCIS, I've created 175 stories and about 23 banners in about 16-17 years. I'm close to wrapping up my 176th NCIS story. My stories include crossovers with Criminal Minds, NCIS: NO, Ghosts, and SEAL Team.

5. Are you still active in any old fandoms?

Old in general or old to me? I occasionally read an old *NSync story now and then. I haven't written in that Fandom since 2010, but I do have a long trilogy that I always promised to finish. I can't say I'll never get back to it. I'd like to finish it. One day.

If you mean old Fandom as in something over 5-10 years old, well, NCIS is wrapping up S23, and will at least have a S24. I've always hoped it would last at least 25 years. We'll see. From what I hear, it's still a very strong and popular show, although I think a lot of the audience base has changed. A lot of people stopped watching after Tony left. A few more dropped after Gibbs left. And I think it's picked up newer viewers in later years. I still watch it, and still love it after all these years. And I still write Gibbs and Tony in current time, it's just neither is still working for NCIS in those stories.

If The Beatles are considered an old fandom, then yeah, them, too. I still very much LOVE THEM! I still get excited when I hear a Beatles song come on the radio (even if I have it on LP and CD, and have heard the song hundreds of times!). But yeah, fandom. I like the music. I've read books about their real lives. I have no desire to read or write fanfic about them. So, fandom, not Fandom.

comments

We started out with a level 2 severe storm warning for our area. It was upgraded to a 3 either late last night, or early this morning. We've now been upgraded to a level 4 severe storm warning. YIKES! Those are scary.

I don't even do much for level 2 warnings. For level 3, I'll make sure my patio chairs are pushed against the house, and I flip the table over. I can't remember the last time we had a level 4. And that's 4 out of 5, with 5 being the most severe storms that have ever hit our area. So for this level 4, I've moved all my potted plants to the front porch (which is covered and has walls on 3 sides). I took my patio umbrella into the garage. It has a heavy stand, but it's been blown over before. I moved everything out on the patio up against the house, and put cinder blocks on the flipped-over table and my free-standing hammock stand. I even brought in the watering can, and put that in the garage, too.

So yeah, it looks like we're dead center of the afternoon storm, but we've had waves of storm coming through since about midnight. Some nearby counties had hail up to "hen egg-size," which is around 2". There are reports of hail damage in those nearby counties.

My area could get some hail this afternoon. We've already had reports of winds at 50 mph, but it's going to get worse. We have warnings for wind, hail, and tornadoes. There have also been rotations spotted in other counties. Many schools have already said they're going to close 2 hours early today.

The worst storms should be blowing through our area between about 4-9 pm. I'm hoping it goes north or south of me, but again, it appears we're currently dead center for the worst of the afternoon storms. Glad it stopped raining long enough for me to move stuff inside!

ETA 1:

I got a 3-mile walk in, but just walked up and down my street, so I was never more than about 1/2 mile (10 minutes) from my house. I made it before the rain came, but when I was about a block away, it was very dark, with lightning and heavy thunder. Less than 5 minutes after I got home, it started pouring rain.

I did notice 3 flat trailers on my street. Normally, there are none. One guy had pulled his back as close to his garage as possible and put a couple cement blocks on it. I'm not sure cement block are going to help a flat-bed trailer if the wind is strong enough to pick it up. Now, for my patio table, it's flipped so the flat part is against the concrete and only the legs are sticking up. The wind can't really get under the flat part very easily, so the concrete blocks may help there.

Another flat-bed trailer is out in the street and has about a dozen aluminum extension ladders strapped to it. If a tornado comes through, I think that will be the first one to get moved by the wind. And the last trailer, the guy backed into his yard, up against his front porch, and there are a couple trees over it. But I don't think he weighed it down at all, so a strong wind could still move it. I didn't think about taking "Before" pictures until I got home. And now that it's raining (plus thunder and lightning), I'm not going back out. I think I'll heat up a pizza and stay put! If I'm lucky, maybe I can get a little more writing done today.

ETA 2:

The tornado warning sirens are going off. Whee! I'm really glad our power lines in the neighborhood are underground.

ETA 3:

So far, we've had several waves of heavy rain, lots of thunder, and lightning. The tornado warnings have gone off several times. I didn't notice any strong winds in my immediate area, the tornado warning has ended for my area. I didn't see or hear any hail. Even if it's pea-sized, I can still hear it. Some nearby counties had some rotations and hail spotted, but it seems to have gone north of my area. I'm not complaining. There's still a chance for more rain tonight and tomorrow, but hopefully, it's not that strong.

comments

It's weird that in any previous year, drafts would have been due already. No one is ready this year (as far as I know). Of course, I do believe that a lot of people wait until about 2 weeks before a draft is due to even start writing. I'm the opposite. I like to get going ASAP. I generally don't sign up for a challenge unless I have an idea for a story (with an exception for gift exchanges, where the receiver gives prompts). But between surgery and other stuff, it's been really hard to focus.

Of the good, I'm up tp 16K. Of the bad, I haven't added a single word in a week! I have a couple errands I have to run today, but am really hoping to get some writing done this weekend.

comments

Okay, it started raining HARD around 3PM. I'd pulled all the new plants close in to the house, near my patio chairs. I looked out at 3:30PM, and the two largest plants had already blown over! Both of them were missing their drip pans, blown away. I looked around the yard, but no sighting of them. I righted the two large plants, and pushed all the plants underneath the chairs instead of right in front of them. All of the plants on the patio are technically hanging plants, so they have hooks. I've used the hooks to secure them to the patio chairs. No clue if it will help at all, but maybe it would stop them from tipping over?

It was pouring rain. I went out there for just a couple minutes in my raincoat and my shoes and shorts are soaked. They said the worst part of the storm should be coming through around 9PM tonight. WOW!

Within 10 minutes, we had hail coming down. And now I'm worried not only whether or not the plants will top over or blow away, but will the hail batter them down? There's no real protection for them on the patio. The four on the front porch have been pulled back closer to the door. They're not even getting wet, so they should be fine. I mean, I guess I could have piled ALL the plants on the front porch.

ETA 1:
I've moved ALL the plants to my tiny front porch. The two biggest had already been knocked over. Two drain pans have already blown away. We've already suffered strong winds, heavy rain, and hail. We're also under a tornado warning until 11PM, and they said the worst of the rains and winds weren't due until around 9PM. So yeah, moved all the plants through the rain, and they should be safe on the front porch. I'll move them back tomorrow. I don't think we're expecting any more rain until later next week.

ETA 2:
We did get some more rain and wind, but I think that 3pm storm was the worst of it. All plants remained safe as they sheltered on the front porch. I moved the 8 back to the patio this morning. I need to put out two more drip pans for the big plants that blew over and lost theirs, but maybe I should wait until I'm actually leaving town and need them to have drip pans.

comments

Of the good, I lost 5 pounds post-surgery. I have no clue why. I wasn't exercising or walking AT ALL, and I was eating plenty. Including some sugary stuff that I normally try to avoid. And here it is, six weeks later. I haven't lost any more weight, even though I've started walking. However, I also haven't gained back any of it either. I'm pretty happy about that.

The other weirder thing was... at some point on a windy day, I noticed a watering can in my yard, but stuck against my neighbor's fence. They have about 8-10 FEET of plants in their yard on their side of the fence so it definitely didn't get through that. I assumed it was my watering can. I leave some stuff on my patio year-round, but tucked under the chimmey or the stairs, but sometimes, a gust grabs something and carries it off if it's light enough. I picked it up and put it into my patio storage trunk, which has a brick on the top of it. I think I put some cinder blocks at the bottom inside, too. That thing ain't budging.

Anyway, I bought a dozen potted flowering plants yesterday for bee and butterfly food. So I pulled out the watering can, and noticed it seemed bigger than I remembered, and it's also green. I was pretty sure my watering can was black. I used the green one, and it's super nice. I don't know whose it was, but it blew into my yard months ago, so it's mine now. Oh, I had taken photos of my front porch and back patio before I went to the nursery, and I noticed my old black watering can is on the front porch. It's in the photo. My front porch is covered and has solid walls on 3 sides, plus the garage juts out further, so things ON the porch are pretty protected from the wind, unlike anything on the back patio. But yeah, this freebie one is fantastic, really nice!

comments

Got up, read & responded to emails and comments, took a shower, fed the cats, paid my bills, then went to do my cleaning duty with the cats. Spent about 2 hours with the cats. Not every cage is full, but almost. We have 7, room for 3 more. Next was the post office, grocery shopping, then back home to put stuff a way, grab a bite for lunch, watched a little TV, might have had a little cat nap.

I've been wanting to get some flowers for bee food. I bought last year's flowers at Home Depot, but wanted to try a smaller locally owned place. There's a place near me that has it's original operation and farm near where I grew up, so I remember going to the old one as a kid. I looked at reviews, and they're all really good, and especially talk about how helpful the staff is. Well, I went out there needing help to pick out some flowers. I don't tend to walk up to salespeople unless I really really have to and this is the ONLY place I could go to get what I wanted. There was a guy out there who ignored me, then went and helped a couple that came in after me. A woman came in and helped another lady, who also came in after me. They had some hanging plants and I kind of stood there staring up, and the lady employee eventually asked if I needed help getting something down. And I said, I need help picking stuff out. She said she'd be "right back." Well about 5 minutes later she did come back and then was helpful.

Of the dislikes, while they accept credit cards, they charge the 3% fee to customers. Honestly, that's annoying. I rather they price everything 3% higher, then say, "3% discount for using cash." I mean, in the end it's the same thing, but I don't like seeing ADDED FEE. Anyway, I picked out 6 plants there and spent $230. I did ask her for some tips, and said I needed HEARTY plants as I have a knack for either over or underwatering them. We had a nice chat about that. She said all their pots have holes in them, so I need to get some platters with a little side to them and put the pots on those, and if I leave for a while, put water in the platters and let the plant suck up moisture as needed. We'll see if that works. I ordered 12" platter things for 8" pots.

Then I went home, dropped them off. Sad to say, one tipped over in the back of my car, and dumped out. I tried putting it back together inside the pot but it's not looking happy. Then I went to Home Depot anyway, to get some stuff for the front of the house. I bought 6 plants at HD for $130. They are smaller, and they are different plants. I gather both size and type of plants have something to do with the price. So now, I have 4 on the front porch, and 8 on the back patio. The platter things come tomorrow.

And now, I need to do my NCIS posts and find something to eat for dinner. I did go down into the basement and turned on the outside spigots. I probably should go water all the plants today. And then, I'll watch NCIS and NCIS: Origins and go to bed!

comments

I ordered some magnets for my car. They're for animal rescue transport. I don't know why. If I do actually move in a year (or two) will I still do transports for a new rescue? But maybe some people will drive better around me if I have rescue animals on board? I don't know. Maybe when I arrive to pick up animals, non-fosters might feel better seeing the magnets that say "Animal Rescue Transport?" But I was thinking about it and found out that they exist, and were available, so yeah, they're ordered.

In the world of fanfic, Melancholy Man has bumped Ziva David Is Not My Lover out of the # 3 slot that it's probably held for 10 years. It crept up slowly, then I suddenly noticed MM had taken the spot.

I was thinking... in a regular year, the Reverse Bang drafts would be due either this weekend or next. I'm maybe halfway through. However, considering I knew I was having surgery, I don't think I would have grabbed a banner if it was due in April. But I still need to get to work on it. I still have a way to go. At least two more chapters.
1. Do you like the look of your country's currency (bills and coins)?
I'm sure it's fine. I generally don't use cash.

2. Regardless of their actual value, do you like bills or coins better?
I would rather carry bills around, but I find coins more interesting.

3. What is your favorite foreign currency? And why?
My parents brought me a coin from Austria that had a Lipizzaner horse on it. That was cool.

4. Do you collect coins or bills? Elaborate.
I have a few old coins, like wheat pennies, and a few coins that are actually silver. It's not much of a collection, but kind of cool to look at them now and then.

5. Do you think human society could make do completely without money? Explain.
Without money at all, or just without physical money? As noted, I've used credit cards for years. I often carry just a $10 or $20 bill just in case a place doesn't accept credit cards, but more and more places are going cashless these days. So I do feel someone could get by without having physical cash, but I don't see humans getting to the point of working without getting paid, or just giving people cars, travel, food, and utilities, etc. for free.

comments

To bingo or not to bingo... that is the question

I've never done a fanfic bingo card. Never. I always figure I'd get something that there's no way I could finish it because of the random theme draws. One of the multi-fandom challenges I follow has announced a bingo challenge, and there's a choice of getting a 3x3 card or a 5x5 card. I'm sort of thinking, with a 3x3 card, using the wildcard feature, I could get by with just writing two random themes, and I am guessing for the wildcard you write a theme of your choice... but I don't know. In real bingo, it's a free space.

But yeah, I'm thinking about it. But then I'm thinking I have a lot of stuff coming up, and I'm still writing my RB. I may wait until my RB is done and then think about it. Although, of the good, there's no penalty for not completing the bingo card. Only the disappointment of not being able to finish the challenge.

comments

Not only did my books get picked up and delivered to me today, but the DVD I ordered, which said it would 'deliver by Tuesday,' also delivered today. And what was that DVD? Let It Be! The 1970 Beatles movie. I saw it as a kid, and it's been really hell trying to buy a copy. I tried to buy VHS copies several times back when you just sent in your check with an order form, and every single time, they canceled the order and either returned my check or issued a full refund. I kept looking in catalogs and tried to order it multiple times, but never got it.

Then, years ago, I found a bootleg VHS copy at a convention. I was glad I bought it when I did because that table got shut down, and they were kicked out (I'm guessing for selling bootlegs). But I got it! That one had been made from a laser disc. Does anyone remember those? LOL. Basically, it was a disc about the size of a 33-1/3 LP. But it didn't hold more than an hour of video per side, so on the VHS copy, there's a pause where they stop to flip it over to side 2. I was still so happy to find it. But yeah, I've been looking and looking and looking for a DVD copy for years, and I finally found it. The guy said he only had two copies left, and I got one. It shipped fast, too. I think I ordered it on Friday or Saturday, and it arrived today. It *might* have a glitchy spot. It started getting weird with about 19 minutes to go, so I stopped and resumed it a couple of times. By time it started running smoothly again, it was down to about 16 minutes, but no issues after that. I did take it out and cleaned it, so maybe there was a spot of dust, or maybe it was my old laptop starting to have issues. I did watch the whole thing, and enjoyed it. I'll have to try it in a different DVD player at some point. Plus, it says it also has 2 hours of music videos, plus a bunch of extras (interviews and such). I just watched the movie today. Yeah, I already have Get Back. It's just not the same. It's not bad or anything, but it's not THE movie they made back in 1970.

***SPOILERS FOR TONIGHT'S EXTRACTED***

comments

News to me, as I saw the carrier drop off my mail, and she was at the neighbor's house when I went out to my box. There were no books. I checked around. I had my main door open, and my storm door is glass from top to bottom, so I could clearly see that she did not get out of her vehicle.
Last night, I went to bed, then for some weird reason, I was having trouble sleeping and decided to venture across the house with the lights off. Usually, I turn on a light or two, but if I want to get back to sleep, it's better if I don't.

So, Chaser was in the bed, check. I thought I could make out a black blob in the hallway outside my bedroom door, Ozzie, check. I did think it was odd because that's often where Pippin likes to sit. I kept going down the hallway and saw Pippin in the living room near the edge of the foyer. I got closer and saw something odd outside my front door. I have a solid door, with a section of glass about six inches wide on either side, that are the same height as the door. And outside one of those tall, narrow windows was a black cat looking inside at Pippin!

My first thought was, "HOW DID OZZIE GET OUTSIDE?" My second thought was, "DIDN'T I JUST PASS OZZIE IN THE HALLWAY, INSIDE?" I flipped on the hall light, and sure enough, there's my Ozzie, in the hallway, INSIDE.

So where did this other black cat come from? I've never seen another black cat just roaming around the neighborhood.

I put on some shoes and opened the door. The black cat looked like he had longer hair than Ozzie. I stepped on the porch, and he walked out to the driveway and sat there. I spoke to him softly, but it was cold, so I went inside to grab a coat. I came out and found the cat had disappeared, so I walked down the street a short distance, and didn't see him anywhere, but yeah, black cat at night... they're difficult to spot.

I walked back to my house and decided to walk around the house. I was really surprised to see the black cat just lying down on the neighbor's patio. I didn't want to spook him, so I spoke softly, then went back to my house to grab some kitty treats, but when I came back, he was gone. That was weird!

comments

It was down around freezing on Monday. On Thursday, it was up to 93F, which broke a record. The local weather people said we've broken five records so far for high temperature in March of this year, and Thursday's 93F was the hottest recorded temp ever for March. And today? It got down into the 20s overnight and is currently around 30F. It's pretty crazy weather. Next week, we're supposed to have rain every day again. Welcome to spring.

I managed to walk Tues, Weds, and Thurs, but didn't walk yesterday. It was cold and windy. Not sure if I will walk today. I'm still technically in recovery, and some days I feel better than other days. I didn't sleep great last night, and I'm not feeling all that good so far today, but it's still early. I had plans to go out today, but not sure I'm feeling up to it.

And I got a bit more writing done on my RB, very close to 10K now. Pippin, who will eat practically anything, suddenly stopped eating one flavor of the pate, so I got her some Sheba cuts, and she's totally fine eating the same flavor in cuts. And she still refuses that flavor in pate.

I haven't found ANY wet food that Ozzie likes. He'll eat some wet treats. He'll usually eat Delectables, and he's been eating Churus. The treats are a lot more expensive than the food, and there isn't much there. But that's all he'll eat. And sometimes he won't even eat the Churus. So, I started sitting on the floor with him and hand-feeding his little princely face straight from the tube. He's usually pretty okay with that. Chaser eats anywhere from half to most of her pate, but never finishes it. Actually, I only give her HALF of a serving to start with, and now I save the other half for the following day. So, Chaser is only eating less than half of a Sheba portion. And that's okay because chunky-monkey Pippin will eat her full serving of cuts, then will finish up whatever Chaser leaves behind. Ozzie will sometimes walk away from Churu if I just put it in a bowl. Depending on his mood, he may eat most or all of a tube if I hand-feed him, and again, Pippin will eat whatever he leaves behind.

After my surgery, I had some dizzy moments/balance issues and lacked energy, so I stopped sitting on the floor with Ozzie. I began just putting his Churu into a bowl and setting it down. Well, he won't even touch the chicken-flavor Churu when I do that, but laps up the tuna. So today, the first time since my surgery, I sat down on the floor with him, and he nearly finished a whole tube of chicken-flavored Churu. It just cracks me up that he will enthusiastically eat it from the tube, but turns away from it in a bowl. Cats can be so weird!

In other cat news, I took Pippin out on her leash yesterday. The first time in a long time. Definitely the first time since my surgery. We mostly just sat on the front porch getting some fresh air, but we did walk a bit on the driveway. I've taught her that when she comes inside the house, she has to STOP and wait for me to remove her harness and leash. THEN she can run off. She's gotten very good at that. She seems to enjoy spending some time outside.

comments
