Just went through retagging [livejournal.com profile] popspam. Found some interesting posts, fun to look back on.

Sort of debating about adding NCIS people over here. Although [livejournal.com profile] jacie3 has lots of NCIS people friended, none of them has friended [livejournal.com profile] solariana. Not sure why. Eh, the busyness of life. I just think I'd be more likely to use this journal if it was more active.

Let's see, joined up to AO3 and have most of my NCIS stuff up there. I decided to post SOLD! one chapter at a time over there. I think I posted everything else in a day or two and it may have been a bit overwhelming. I didn't think anyone would find it so fast.

It is kind of cool to see the stats page, but I always feel sorry for the poor little story at the bottom. In the 'hits' view that would be Rescued. I like that one because it's so different. My self indulgent historical AU Where The Heart Takes You has gotten a kudo, which is nice (it's one of my favs so I'm rooting for it to be #2 behind SOLD! At least it's in the top five). SOLD! is getting massive hits and a few kudos.

Still debating about the popslash stuff. I'm thinking I may get around to posting some, but not all of it over there. Haven't decided if I want to use the same AO3 account to post both NCIS and popslash stuff.

Went to the dentist today to get a cavity filled. Numbness is finally wearing off. I can feel my lips again! YAY!

Also, just curious. Seems like my f-list over here has slowed to a crawl. A very slow crawl in fact. Makes me a little sad. Anyway, I know some probably check into LJ only on rare occasions. Some gone for good, I suppose. Many have switched to DW.

So, my question is, how many of you still intend to read/post at LJ?

I probably mentioned before, but I have no intention of leaving LJ, nor do I have any intention of going to DW. Firstly, I have a permanant account here. If I go there, I'll lose all the *extras*. Secondly, I try to limit my online time. I don't need or want to spend time with another journal. Like I need another thing to log into & keep track off.

I generally save all my writing chat & most of my fandom stuff for over at [livejournal.com profile] popspam, but yes, just saying, I am in hopes that MTYG will continue. Seems like that's our final straw left standing for popslash.

Oh yeah, if anyone is interested, I put together a reading list from the Awesome August recs. It's limited to non-MPreg NSync stories mostly, but plenty much-loved stories still online. They're mostly in order they were listed in, so pretty much a random order. Breaks are random as well, just to make the list more readable:

The fabulous [livejournal.com profile] pensnest is running an Awesome August challenge this year:

Because we all need more PopSlash! Sad to say, I've only written one popslash story this year. How about you?

If you don't write (or have other extra hidden talants) rec lists, art, reviews, etc are also welcome. Click on the above linky for details.

Many thanks to the cast & crew of MTYG! You all do such a fabulous job with the challenge! And many thanks as well to all the writers for bringing about another round of sparkily joy.

Interesting to see that all the NSync pairings had either Chris or JC as part of the pairing, or paired them together, which of course is a pairing that brings me much joy. Of course, just about everything with either Chris or JC or the both of them together brings me much joy.

Which brings me to Then You Ask Why I Don't Live Here
, the MTYG story written for me. YAY! I absolutely adore this one. It's longish (which I prefer) and it takes place out in the middle of nowhere, at an old run-down western theme park. It features appearance by all the sparkily boys of NSync & BSB, along with Britney & Christina, and a few mysterious twists & turns along the way. Thank you, Santa! You did a most fabulous job!

Go Chris!

What a great MTYG for Chris fans! I'm pleasantly thrilled to see that about 3/4 of the NSync stories are Chris pairings! YAY!
jacieleigh: (chris-cheers)
There is a definite drop in popslash writers/participants.
There are never enough SeSa stories.
There are never too many popslash stories.
There are more back-up writers than stories.

The above statements got me thinking.
And I know, it's probably not possible,
too much trouble,
wouldn't be fair...

BUT, wouldn't it be kind of cool if, once the round one Sesa stories are posted,
The non-written pairings/requests were opened up to back-up writers?
Maybe like 22-23 only, with a must be posted on the 23rd, no exceptions/extentions.
Maybe posted on the 25th? Maybe the 24th? Maybe a special designation? No, not so much.

Maybe take all the non-written pairings/participants and open them up in early June?
Stories to be posted in late July?
Like Christmas in July?
Wouldn't it be cool to go through all the stress fun more than once a year?

Anyway, just thinking random thoughts.
And patiently waiting for MTYG 2009 to GO LIVE!

Just a quick note that this is the last day to sign up for the [livejournal.com profile] poptober challenge!

This year's theme is "Balls"

Stories are due Oct 17! (& *woe* I still have no bunnies *whimpers*)

I can't believe the weekend is over already! Can I take a month off of work and still get paid? Oh well.

Anyway, for you popslash peeps, I have finally put up my thoughts on the 2009 dragon stories over at [livejournal.com profile] popspam.

A couple goodies for Awesome August, for you popslash folks:

From Aug 29:

And just a note that sign ups are open for the 2009 [livejournal.com profile] poptober challenge.
This year's theme: balls

And now, I go to bed, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

A few days ago, I asked for opinions on this year's Pop!Tober Challenge.

Everyone who responded would like to see the themes progress alphabetically.

There are some good ideas submitted for this year's theme, although I haven't picked one yet, I will choose one from those submitted.

As far as keeping the past year's theme, there were pros and cons mentioned. On the plus side, it may bring in a writer or two who prefer one theme over the other. However, it was also brought up that going with two themes may cause some confusion and there would be less coherence in the submissions as some may be theme A, while others are theme B. Another thought was that anyone can always weave theme A into their story as long as they also use theme B.

After giving both sides some thought, I think we're going to stick with a single theme per year, and again, no reason why someone can't intertwine a past theme into a story as long as they use the current theme as well. The intention always was to use broad themes that would be easy to work with.

If you haven't added your thoughts yet, the poll is still open HERE

So [livejournal.com profile] pensnest asks what we can do to restore the energy and activity to the popslash fandom. Any ideas?

Posts to check out:
I think popslash is dying. What about you? by [livejournal.com profile] linear_flower at [livejournal.com profile] popsoundboard

What can we do to increase activity in the PopSlash fandom? by [livejournal.com profile] solariana at [livejournal.com profile] popcomm

I encourage everyone interested to throw in their 2 cents or equivalent. As with most of the popslash comms, [livejournal.com profile] popcomm hasn't been very active recently. I have an idea or two for the comm, so it may be changing a bit from it's original design. Hopefully for the better and hopefully it will see more activity down the road.

And yes, sign ups for Pop!Tober Challenge 2009 will open soon! ;)
Watch for the announcement at [livejournal.com profile] poptober_ch, [livejournal.com profile] poptober or [livejournal.com profile] popcomm!

I'm only bummed that I must go to work, then will be off finishing my shopping, then, most likely, off to my parents for a day or two *sigh*. But for the rest of you, ENJOY! I hope you all get a story you love! I can't wait until the weekend when I'll have time to READ!

Many Many thanks to the MTYG staff!

First off, yes there will be a Pop!Tober Challenge 2009.
This challenge was intended to be an annual challenge from the beginning, although the themes will change each year.
Keep an eye on [livejournal.com profile] poptober_ch for sign ups around July 27, 2009.

Now, on to the fun stuff! Stories were posted anonymously & authors were not revealed until November 1. Prior to the reveal, readers had the opportunity to vote on one of the stories as their favorite for "Reader's Choice", then could also vote on what they felt the other stories deserved for their awards. I am thrilled & giddy that one of my stories won the Reader's Choice Award. I didn't vote for the RC, and it wouldn't have mattered if I did (meaning my vote would not have put any other story close enough to win or even tie).

Mini versions of the awards are posted with the stories at [livejournal.com profile] poptober_ch.
Participants may pick up the full size versions of their awards here:
Pop!Tober Challenge 2008 Awards & Prizes (member-locked-post)
And a full list of awards & prizes is here:

I've written two Halloweenish popslash stories over the years. Totally different from each other. One is new, one is old. One is long, one is short. One is definitely AU, the other can be read as a non-AU. They probably have little in common, other than I wrote them both & they both feature the guys from NSync! Enjoy, if you're so inclined.

Brand new is the longer one:
Stranded: Where Time Stands Still
Pairings: Lance/Justin, Chris/Joey, Chris/Joey/JC
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Part Four

And this is a Chris/JC ficlet from 2005:
