Kind of miss having everyone logged on, chatting and waiting for SeSa to go live. I hope everyone gets a story they enjoy!

Went to the dentist today to get a cavity filled. Numbness is finally wearing off. I can feel my lips again! YAY!

Also, just curious. Seems like my f-list over here has slowed to a crawl. A very slow crawl in fact. Makes me a little sad. Anyway, I know some probably check into LJ only on rare occasions. Some gone for good, I suppose. Many have switched to DW.

So, my question is, how many of you still intend to read/post at LJ?

I probably mentioned before, but I have no intention of leaving LJ, nor do I have any intention of going to DW. Firstly, I have a permanant account here. If I go there, I'll lose all the *extras*. Secondly, I try to limit my online time. I don't need or want to spend time with another journal. Like I need another thing to log into & keep track off.

I generally save all my writing chat & most of my fandom stuff for over at [livejournal.com profile] popspam, but yes, just saying, I am in hopes that MTYG will continue. Seems like that's our final straw left standing for popslash.

Oh yeah, if anyone is interested, I put together a reading list from the Awesome August recs. It's limited to non-MPreg NSync stories mostly, but plenty much-loved stories still online. They're mostly in order they were listed in, so pretty much a random order. Breaks are random as well, just to make the list more readable:

And here's a link to this year's Awesome August master list:

Many thanks to the cast & crew of MTYG! You all do such a fabulous job with the challenge! And many thanks as well to all the writers for bringing about another round of sparkily joy.

Interesting to see that all the NSync pairings had either Chris or JC as part of the pairing, or paired them together, which of course is a pairing that brings me much joy. Of course, just about everything with either Chris or JC or the both of them together brings me much joy.

Which brings me to Then You Ask Why I Don't Live Here
, the MTYG story written for me. YAY! I absolutely adore this one. It's longish (which I prefer) and it takes place out in the middle of nowhere, at an old run-down western theme park. It features appearance by all the sparkily boys of NSync & BSB, along with Britney & Christina, and a few mysterious twists & turns along the way. Thank you, Santa! You did a most fabulous job!

Go Chris!

What a great MTYG for Chris fans! I'm pleasantly thrilled to see that about 3/4 of the NSync stories are Chris pairings! YAY!

MTYG 2008

Ah yes another SeSa tradition:
Guess which story I wrote! *G*

No screening of comments here. I always liked seeing the guesses and, afterall, only the first correct guess is a winner. So yes, feel free to browse any other comments if you wish. Makes no difference to me. *G* And really, the year I allowed guesses for both my original & my pinch-hit, I only had one correct guess from one person anyway.

Rules, prizes & other such things:
1. Whoever is the first to correctly identify my original story gets a cookie popslash ficlet from me.
2. I did write a pinch-hit, too, however, that has already been correctly guessed by someone, so if you guess that, YAY! But no ficlet for you (unless maybe if no one guesses the original).
3. If you've beta'd my original story or in some other manner have been given any incriminating information (plot, pairing, recipient, random hints, etc.) by me via IM, no guessing for you.

YAY! The MTYG assignments are here!
As long as I get a NSync pairing, I can work with it. ;)

Since it's so close to the author reveal, I'm going to go ahead and extend Many Thanks to:

  • [livejournal.com profile] nopseud for beta reading the story for my orignial recipient. Thank for all your patience and wonderful advice. I didn't tell you this, but my first run through with corrections, I was about 2/3s of the way through and my program crashed, so I had to start all over *wails*. I wish I'd gotten this to you earlier, so I had more time to follow your advice, but as it is, it is much, much better thanks to you. I hope to take some time and work on it further down the road.

  • [livejournal.com profile] bellamyrose for spending the 6 hours with me (via IM) as I wrote my back-up story. Thank you for your input, encouragement & handholding. It was a lovely day, no?

  • Yet still unnamed author for writing A Series Of Events for me!

  • All the participants for writing, reading, FB, rec lists and helping each other out. You ALL totally rock!

  • Special thanks to the 6 of you who read & left FB for everything, you're all awesome! Thanks for the FB!

  • To everyone involved with the running of MTYG. I know I'm not the only one who would have been greatly saddened if the popslash SeSa simply ended. Thank you so much for taking on the job of running the greatest challenge ever. You all did a marvellous job and it was a pleasure to participate.
jacieleigh: (chris-cheers)
If you wrote more than one story, please refer to your origninal recipient in regards to the poll.

I got through all 50 NSync stories before the reveal! YAY!

I don't know if I'm worthy to be reccing, so I'm just going to call this my list of favorites, with the disclosure that I read most of the stories when I was pretty ill (which may or may not have affected my choices), I may have quirky tastes at times and also have aversions to certain things like MPregs, gender-switching, etc. I also tend to prefer AUs over non-AUs and longer fics over short.

Some pairings had more stories than others, so those get a couple choices each, then also a couple of Honorable Mentions for a couple others I liked. Some of the pairings were really difficult to cut down to just 1-2 favorites as there were a lot of really good stories this year! I also didn't rec anything I beta'd or anything where I already know who the author is.

So with that said, here are my favorites for each NSync pairing:

  • The Rest, As They Say, Is History
This one made me do MATH when I was sick! LOL Once I figured out it was a travel through life via reincarnation, I really enjoyed it, especially the 40s Diner. Nicely done, interesting & creative. I loved this one a lot! Definitely one of my top choices of the year.
  • Mister Toes
As a general rule, I'm not too keen on NSync stories with kids in them. However, this one is so wonderfully written and nicely done that it captured my heart. Chris works with disadvantaged children and JC helps. Awww, such sweetness!
  • Honorable Mention to Your Building's On Fire This one I thought was so beautifully written, but the ending didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me. It left me wondering what had happened, like maybe there was meant to be more, but the author ran out of time. Might have been the Dayquil/Nyquil/Cough Syrup and whatever else I was taking, but this story reminded me of taking the most beautiful scenic drive, then the road just suddenly ends. Does that even make sense? It's a beautiful read, but I'd love to see the ending fleshed out a bit.

  • Flashes
This one has an interesting switch on things: Lance is straight and Joey's the gay one who comes out.

  • It Pays to Advertise
Normally an over amount of Brtishisms in an NSync story tends to annoy me, however, this one was a breath of fresh air, being clearly an AU where they all work of an advertising firm in London, therefore, British. It makes the whole piece very charming!

  • And You'll Notice My Smile (Is Like Kool Aid)
This is also one of my absolute favorites out of all the stories, Lance and his Smile. It's a non-AU, but one that I really adored. Very well done and nice and long!
  • Honorable Mention to Year of the Bull
Lance turns into a rather charming Bull! Very fitting and nicely done. And how adorable for him to break down Chris' door just because he can?

  • My Big Gay Disney Courtship
What's not to love about JC & Disney Princesses? Nice story about the Fatone's making room in their family to include JC, and plotting to bring him into it in a rather intimate way.

  • The Fiction, the Romance, the Technicolor Dreams
I'm not sure I liked the backwards sequencing, however, this story takes the reader on a lovely journey of the JC/Justin relationship from current back to the beginning.
  • Honorable Mention to Fishnet
Not really a whole lot of JC/Justin interaction. However, a nice quirky story of Lance planning a new bar, which winds up with JC being photographed in Fishnets only after Joey & Chris paint his toenails and, yeah, Lance shows the pictures of the *legs only* to Justin who finds them rather sexy. That sneaky Bass! Fun story.

  • Once Upon A Twisted Tale
Very well done story where popstars lead double lives in another universe where they are Storybook figures. Very nicely done and creative. I *almost* think [livejournal.com profile] turps33 wrote it, but it doesn't quite tug at me the way the one she wrote last year did.
  • A Tale of Dreams and Asses
Joey's dream is enough to include this as a favorite, and the fact that the others won't let him forget it! LOL
  • Honorable Mention to A Series Of Events it's all hiking cuteness and stuck in snow storm and naked and cuddling, oh so adorable and was written for me! YAY!

  • To Keep You Company.
Joey wants to keep Lance company. Lance tries to resist his urges and Joey's charms, but fails.

  • Impossible to Ignore You
Chris asks Lance if he's gay and Lance says yes. Chris, Joey & JC are in his corner, but Justin? Seems to have issues and avoids Lance when he can. Nicely written non-AU where Joey & JC try to give Lance instructions for sex, Chris is being Chris, and Joey has a knack for spotting the dudes who want to hook up with Lance. Then Chris shares a little information with Lance and the others insist that he confronts Justin.

    Nsync GSF
  • Where the Wild Things Are
True there was only one entry in the GSF category, but hey, you can hardly go wrong with five guys, one bus and a plethera of sex toys!

Normally, I refuse to read my stories once they're posted for fear of TYPOS! This year I had to read my back-up because I wrote it so fast & while I was so sick that I'd forgotten most of it. I suppose it's okay, for as quickly as it was done, however, I am mortified at the TYPOS! ARGH! And now I wish I hadn't posted it *sigh*

Oh well, there's always next year. Is in time to sign up again yet? *G*

I never could have gotten through all the MTYG stories before the reveal without this extra week, between the distractions of work, family, being horribly ill. I'm about halfway through the JC/Lance stories, then I will be finished with all the NSync ones. YAY!

In the past, I've started with a huge spreadsheet and making notes and such and spending so much time on that, that I haven't gotten through many stories before the reveal. This year, I decided to read, read, read (when I had time) and not bother with notes, which leaves me with trying to remember the details of over 40 stories LOL. One of these years I will get it right.

Anyway, wrapping up reading the JC/Lance stories today and then I'll be posting my list of favorites a bit later. *G*
jacieleigh: (chris-cheers)
Wishing you all happiness & all sorts of fabulous adventures for the New Year!

I'm only making one NY resolution & that is to actually start loading some of my other icons here! I know, it's been over a year and I'm just all lazy about it, but here, to start off, we have Chris "Cheers"!

And yes, I'm still working through the MTYG stories. I'm about halfway through the NSync ones. I've picked out favs from the Chris/JC list, the Chris/Joey list & the Chris/Justin list. Working on Finished the Chris/Lance ones, I'll get back to them today, now in fact *G*

Done with the Chris/Lance & the Lance/Joey

Also have accomplished both playing with & napping with a couple of adorably cute kittens! ;)

Hee! how I love this sort of post, how cool there's one over at [livejournal.com profile] mtyg_discuss! But no guesses about me yet, LOL!

Last year I did manage to guess [livejournal.com profile] turps33, I don't know why, but even within the first few sentences something clearly said *Terri* to me. Nothing like that has hit me yet, but I've got a long way to go.

But if anyone wants to guess which ones I wrote, go ahead, humor me *G*.
jacieleigh: (1)
Why am I still sick? This sucks! Bleh! *cough* *sniffle* *cough*

And that pile of used kleenex that was on my night table when I went to bed? Gone! Well, not gone exactly. More like strewn about, in little ripped up pieces, all over the place. Even under the bed *groans*. *glares at kittens* *is melted by their cuteness*

On to more important things! SeSa! I got JC/Lance and it's all hiking cuteness and stuck in snow storm and naked and cuddling and oh so adorable, YAY! A Series Of Events

Thank you Secret Santa! *hugs*

Now I have to pack up the car and go be all Christmassy all day. *cough* *sniffle* *cough*
jacieleigh: (1)

Nobody saw that, right?
jacieleigh: (1)
It's days like today that I miss my old job, where I could print out slash at work, read slash at work, write slash at work *sigh*. I have to work late today, then come right home, where I will not, WILL NOT, fall asleep until I have my SeSa story posted. And yes, I am going to be in complete panic mode all day!
jacieleigh: (1)
I feel like I haven't been home in days:
Saturday-shoveled snow, adopted the kitties, played with kitties assisted kitties in adapting to their new surroundings
Sunday-watched kitties, then out with family till late
Monday-work, then post office (lines, I tell you, LINES!), then finished shopping (MORE LINES!)
Tuesday-work, then home to get kitties, then off to the Vets, grabbed dinner, then home for shower. Now it's almost 7 already!
Tomorrow-Early to work, then to run by my parents where I will likely be roped into staying for dinner, so home by 8 if I'm lucky
Thursday-work, then grocery shopping, more lines, I'm sure

Oh, but wait! There's more! I have CARDS!

Big *hugs* & Holiday *smooches* to [livejournal.com profile] justinsgayhero (California Christmas!), [livejournal.com profile] pensnest (Flower!), [livejournal.com profile] poetrychik (Oh So Naughty!) and [livejournal.com profile] turps33 (Penguins!). Thank you all!

Looks like about 1-2 inches so far. Look how cute the weather pixies are with their snowflakes! The weather man says the second wave of the storm will come through tonight, expected to dump another 5-8 inches. That's more snow than we've seen in a couple years. I think we got a TOTAL of 3 inches all last year.

Have tweaked SeSa story but still think it sucks donkey balls. It's been sent out for a second opinion *crosses fingers*.

I should be around most of today (might take a snow drive for an hour or two) and tomorrow morning if anyone needs any help with SeSa stuff. Mel? Jilly? How are you guys doing?
