I did set up some mirror accounts for my communities over at DW a while ago.

I've had a DW jounrnal since 2011, but only use it as an archive for my fanfic. I've yet to decide about anything else. I am "Jacie" over there, but again, it is only an archive for my fanfic at this time. However, you can also find all of my NCIS comms there, by going to my Jacie profile.

While I intend to remain here at LJ, and mainly run the communities from here, I don't want people to feel they can no longer participate in the NCIS challenges because they're moving to DW. Please note, art claims will continue to be run from Live Journal.

If interested, these are my communities at DW. There is currently little to no activity there right now. I don't have a lot of spare time, so they likely will not be as updated as the LJ communities.

Just to be clear, these are (sort of) mirror communities over at DW -

NCIS_bigbang: will have posts about the NCIS Big Bang Challenge

NCIS_reversebang: will have posts about the NCIS Reverse Bang Challenge

NCIS_sesa: will have posts about the NCIS Secret Santa (which is really on AO3 - so you do need an AO3 account to participate)

NCIS_discuss: where you're welcome to post discussions...or pretty much anything NCIS related

NCIS_campfire: I use the LJ journal as a sort of newsletter. Not sure what I'll do with this one. A Newsletter is A LOT of work, and I don't think those going to DW really want a page that links everything back to LJ.

NCIS_bang: Since the Big Bang and Reverse Bangs now have their own communities (at DW only), I'm probably just going to use this to post Master Lists for both challenges.

NCIS_challenge: I'm thinking of hosting the DW version of the NCIS Happy Holidays Advent Challenge here.

I mentioned I had "Jacie" over at DW for several years now, as a backup for my fanfic. I've now also picked up "Jacieleigh" as a backup for my personal journal. I still intend to make LJ my main journal, but if anything happens, if they decide to delete me, or LJ goes away, I wanted to have a place ready to go.

http://forum.nfacommunity.com/index.php isn't one of yours but it does have fanfiction posting options and does run challenges. If lj ever kicks us out I might start doing those. I might start doing them anyway, but I like the lj challenges better. lol.

Well actually ao3 challenges are the best, but there aren't that many of them. lol.

I love AO3 for posting stories, but don't like that there is no sense of community. There's a place to go find challenges, but it's tough to find and many people don't even know about it.

But I do like the gift exchange software for the SeSa challenge!

Yeah. I like AO3 for posting stories and for reading stories, but it's definitely lacking a community aspect. Yeah. I've browsed the challenges before. Was how I found some of the lj ones actually. But they don't seem to be overly active at least not in the NCIS community.

Well, I'm glad you found LJ! I've browsed around DW, but a lot of the comms haven't been touched in a year, or even longer. The NCIS ficfinder here on LJ is very busy. The DW one hasn't had a post in about a year.

Other than the fact that this is home, and I have the permanent account, it just seems like there is very little NCIS activity over there.

I was on lj before I started reading NCIS fanfic, but didn't realize there was NCIS stuff here until I found some of your challenges on ao3. lol.

Yeah. The ficfinder one is rather active. DW isn't even one of the top 15 places for fanfiction. lol. So yeah probably not so active. Yeah. The only place besides here and ao3 for NCIS stuff seems to be the NFA community. *shrugs*

Just for in case I've joined all of the communities over on DW and I made sure I followed you! :-)

Many thanks! I'd completely forgotten that I'd posted the info for the 2015 SeSa over there. It still said those sign-ups were open (updated to closed today *G*). The search stinks though. I've never been able to find my comms with a search, which explains why there are no members, LOL.

I will probably not post much over there, and doubt things will stay super updated...but I didn't want people to feel they couldn't participate if they left LJ. Of course, it's easier on me if people would keep their LJ if only for challenges...but I respect everyone's choices.

I also have problems in searching for communities and even people, so for me it works perfectly if someone posts their link here on LJ and I can then go to the profile and add them to my circle.

I have a paid account here until October, I will see how things go over here and then decide if I will pay again or if I will go back to the free account. I will not close my journal here, I love this place!

I'm so glad to hear from people who are staying! I always get sad when people decide to move. It always seemed to me that all these multiple sites are what killed fandom.

I mean, my last fandom, everyone was on LJ. Nowadays, people are spread out over so many sites, it's hard to get very many together or to get the word out on things.

Awesome! I'm so glad to see some are staying!

The whole DW friend thing confuses me. I guess it transferred over all my LJ friends. I thought it was just those who had linked DW accounts, but when I click on a name, it brings me back to LJ. Weird.

I guess we really have to hunt people down over at DW? I just can't get the hang of their search features. I tried searching NCIS comms, and mine do not come up even though I just posted today (so they are active), and they've been around for months or years (in some cases). And I've tried entering a name that I know has a journal there, and it can't find it. Their search just seems to stink! (Or I'm too stupid to figure it out.)

YAY! I don't like other places, so I don't look at Twitter or any of those. I have a FB for family, but I only check in every 1-2 weeks or so. Maybe even once a month. I just don't care for it. DW is the most similar to LJ, so if LJ deletes me, that's where I will be, but as long as LJ is around, it will be my main journal. DW is basically just a backup plan.

We're just losing so many people, this is about the 3rd big exodus, although I personally don't know many who are leaving for good this time around. Most are just getting a DW as a backup. Still, I don't want those who have chosen to leave to feel that they can't participate in the challenges. They'll have to meet me halfway though. I am not planning to run claims at both comms. It's a lot of extra work just to post to both comms. If I did offer claiming at both, it's going to start at LJ, then maybe offer unclaimed art or stories at DW. It's just easier to keep it all in one place, where everyone can see what's been claimed before.

We'll have to see how it goes, and if anyone over there even bothers to sign up.

Thanks for being willing to open up the challenge on Dw as well. Have you thought about just having one com like you do on LJ and cross posting. Unless I'm not totally understanding how cross posting works. it seems like it would be much less work for you.

I have a question. Can you do an art claim with open ID or do you need an LJ account?

You're very welcome! I don't want anyone to feel left out.

Anyway, I can't give a full answer about the art claims now. The comm currently does not allow anonymous posting, but I'm sure I can change that for a few days during claims. I'm sure it would be a nightmare to try to run the art claims at both comms at the same time. LJ alone can be crazy busy.

Of course, it would be easiest for me if everyone kept an LJ, even if it had no entries, but I get it. I do. I will have to see how many people sign up who have DW only and then we'll work something out. This year's Big Bang will be the pilot and we'll come up with something. If it doesn't work well, we'll try something else next time.
